Welcome to All Saints New Eltham
It seems appropriate to write to you all this week in particular as this was last year the last Sunday before we went into lockdown. What a trying year it has been for us all in so many ways and we have all had to find new ways of being. As a church we have not been without our challenges but we can now I hope see light at the end of the tunnel.
We owe so many a huge swathe of thanks. Our NHS workers, our teachers and all who work in schools, our police and fires services, as well as our armed forces who have been supporting track and trace and the vaccine program. But also all our transport workers, our shop workers and those working in the supply chain. And our funeral directors too, who have been working flat out during the pandemic with little or no recognition. What it has done for myself certainly and hopefully for us all is to make us realise all the more how we need all of us to contribute to our society and that we are all stronger together than when apart. So many communities have found that extra bit of caring and love for those around them and we must be careful to retain that as we come out of this pandemeic, slowly and safely. This week in Lent let us reflect on how we can make our world the best it can be, how we can think on care for others and ourselves, how we can care for the planet around us, for if we all pull together what a world we could have
